I wore glitter, you wore absence.

I had no money

I had no grace

At every party I searched your face

In every laugh that wasn’t mine

In half-drunk truths and cherry wine

I danced alone in chandelier light

Pretending loneliness felt right

My mascara wrote your name

Down my cheeks like ink and shame

You were gone before the song

And I was left to play along

So I danced in diamonds, broke and bright

Laughed too loud to feel the night

Wore my sorrow like designer skin

Smiled like losing you was in

They said I looked like I had it all

In heels too high and rooms too small

I laughed on cue, I played the part

But no one clapped for a broken heart

I wore my sorrow like perfume

Filled every silence in the room

But none of them could see right through—I wasn’t there, I was missing you

So I fixed my crown in the powder room

Told myself, “you’ll get over him soon”

But ghosts don’t care for time or pride

They sleep beside you every night

And maybe someday I’ll forget your name

Or maybe I’ll just wear it dressed like shame

They never knew what I lost that day

—I smiled, I twirled, I slipped away
