The town must burn

They say she’s easy on the eye,

They swear she’s never had to cry.

They pray she never will return,

For if she does, the town must burn.

Their laughter lingers in the air,

A haunting sound, but she won’t care.

The men all fall, the women turn,

For if she stays, the town must burn.

The fire follows where she goes,

Ashes bloom like midnight roses.

Every heart is bound to learn,

If she comes back, the town must burn.

Her footsteps echo through the past,

you hear them even when she’s gone.

They built their walls, tried to forget,

But when she knocks, no door is set.

Is she a curse, is she divine?

A sinner’s fate, a saint’s design?

No soul escapes, no ghost can flee,

The night she comes, the town must bleed.

The fire follows where she goes,

Ashes bloom like midnight roses.

Hearts will break and shadows yearn,

The night she comes, the town must burn.
